Yaas Disaster Relief.

Yaas was a relatively strong and very damaging tropical cyclone that made landfall in Odisha and brought significant impacts to West Bengal during late May 2021. The second cyclonic storm, second severe cyclonic storm, and second very severe cyclonic storm of the 2021 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Yaas formed from a tropical disturbance that the Indian Meteorological Department first monitored on May 23. Evacuations were also ordered, starting on May 24 on low-lying areas in East Midnapore and West Midnapore and Jhargram. Hooghly, Kolkata and North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas are now placed on high alert. Our team summoned a immediate meeting for something to do. We decided to reach the affected areas and provide some grocery and foods for the people who been victims for this cyclone. We post an update on social sites asking for donation & contribution for them. And unexpectedly we got huge response. We started packeting the grocery and we arrange more than 300 packets for the people. After 1 week with the help of Raniganj Police we got the permission for going. We choose the most affected place that is Mousuni Island, situated at Namkhana, Sundarban Delta. With our 15 members carrying more than 300 packets we started our journey in the midnight, covering the distance of 350 Kms we reached over there. We were shocked by the condition we saw. We distributed the packets and return back in the same day. The packets carries items like :- Rice Potatoes Salt Dals Biscuits Puffed Rice Sanitary Napkins.
